Does Your Personal Information Match Your Social Security Account?
The Social Security Administration will begin sending out 'no match' letters to employers requesting action and a response for 2010 Form W-2 name and social security number mismatches of specific employees. This will involve only specific individuals, and group letters will no longer be sent. The letter is a Form SSA-L4002-C1. The Social Security Administration asks that the employer compare the information in the letter to the employer's records. If the information is a match, make a copy of the data that verifies the information. If the information is not a match, the employee is to contact the Social Security Administration office. If there are mistakes on the employee's personnel information, correct the mistakes. Return the completed form to the Social Security Administration. When there are mismatches such as these, this will result in an employee's wages not being credited to their Social Security accounts.
